Shoe Box Project 9/2009

Even though the past year and a half has been really hard on us we are trying to make a point of being thankful. There are so many who do not have a roof over their heads or pillows to lay their heads down on at night. We still truly are so blessed. As Americans it is so easy to feel like we have fallen short because we no longer fit in the traditional "we have it all together" mold. Yet if we take the time to look around it is not hard to see we really are truly lucky people. There are so many others with so much less. This year we have talked with Chad about the upcoming holiday. We shared that with the money we have for the holidays we want to make sure we don't just buy each other gifts but help those in need. That our Christmas will be smaller then in past years not just because of our circumstances but because from our circumstances we have learned how much some one elses gesture of kindness can make your day. We have put together a list of ways we are going to show kindness this year. One of them was the shoebox program. We filled 2 shoe boxes. One for a girl and one for a boy. It was a lot of fun :)
